-Image-mode-grayscale
-Adjustments-brightness/contrast

Method 2:
-Adjustments-Hue/Saturation
-slide Saturation to nil.
(also nice for mostly desaturated images)

Method 3:
-Channel Mixer
-click monochrome
(this is a very popular method and is great on landscapes)
